Dear list members,
Halcyon is committed to manufacturing dive gear that exceeds the industry's
highest standards. Nevertheless, we recognize that a component has been
shipped to our customers that does not meet our expectation of quality.
Because we never lose sight of the safety of our customers, we are
announcing a recall of the rubber handwheels used on the Halcyon manifolds
that shipped from May 1 until the first of July, along with the procedure
that will need to be followed to ensure a quick and unbureaucratic handling
of the issue.
Please be advised that the rubber hand-wheels on the Halcyon manifold (item
#64.100.300) shipped between May 1, 2001 and July 1, 2001 have proven to be
defective. These handwheels are unlike the units used in previous or later
sales of Halcyon manifolds. In use, the defective handwheels can separate
from their stainless steel inserts, making it impossible to turn the valves
on or off. Use of these handwheels should be discontinued immediately and
returned to Halcyon for replacement. The defective handwheels can be
difficult to distinguish from good ones and should be returned if in
question. Photos of the correct and defective inserts can be viewed online
at http://www.halcyon.net/recall/. We apologize for any inconvenience this
recall may cause; however, we are determined to keep diving safety the
number one priority at Halcyon Manufacturing.
If you have a question about a Halcyon manifold purchased after May 1,
2001, please write to us with your questions at info@halcyon.net or call
Halcyon at 386.454.0811. If you believe you have a defective handwheel,
please return it for replacement to:
