the florida situation simply has no relevance to California. their sharks are different kinds of fish and behave completely differently.

OUR sharks are GWS that prey from below when attracted and triggered by prey behaviour.

"prey behavior":

sitting on a surfboard outside of the surf zone, typically isolated from other surfers, or late in the evening, or early in the morning, when sharks normally feed.

surface swimming with scuba or while freediving, for long surface swims, making fluttering sounds and vibrations from excessive splashing while kicking.

making a fast ascent from deep water, as if attempting flight from a predator.

scuba diving mid-water rather than near the bottom.

carrying a stringer of speared fish, leaking fishblood, as though a wounded fish yourself.

there is simply no relevance to a kid padding around on a shallow sandy beach in Florida to us here in California. We dont have their variety of sharks. We dont have warm water that kids can bob and play in. We dont have small sharks that swim up near the shoreline.

thank you for at least TRYING to be ad hominem free this time. you almost did it.
