Question about Watches that can be used for diving...

For the certification class I'm going to take, I need to have a watch or dive computer. The watch I’m currently using for everyday use isn't water-resistant so I have to get a new one just for diving. I read on driverlink.com that I could get away with an inexpensive Timex watch. I have my eye on a ReefGear Timex that tests out at 320 ft that has only basic time telling features. Does anyone have any advise on what I should get? Should I spend more to get a depth finder and other features?
