Understand my position.. I agree that lines are useful for ascending and descending.. I don't want that getting lost in the exchanges..
But that being said you still need to teach diver's about the proper method of ascending and descending and if you show them to simply pull yourself up and down a line they'll have no clue what to do, or how to control the ascent or descent rate when there is no line...
It's the instructors taking the lazy way out because they have such limited time in the reduced class schedule...
