Maybe I'm a non-recurring phenomenon but, personally, I would rather boogie on down to the object of my descent as fast as possible, controlling my "plunge" rate with dry suit inflation or if "wet" by bc. Once on the "deck" I horizontal out, properly buoyed and trimmed. Ascending I control by venting either my dry suit or bc. Simple. Could they both fail at the same time? Yeah, but, once again, I could get hit by lightening. Same odds. This horizontal descent and ascent suggestion's gotta be new, 'cause up until recent posts I never heard of it. Nor do I care to experiment with it. My advice, since vertical descending and ascending works...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm open to new ideas but this one's DOA para mi, senor.
