IF you are doing deco dives, THEN you should have a deco table in your B/C pocket or gear pouch. you still have a timeclock or psi information problem, but the deco schedule is at least available to you.
the most valuable pieces of extra gear in any emergency seem to be (1) spare lift bag, (2) reel, (3) spare mask, all in your B/C pockets. and on a deco dive, (4) spare dive deco tables.
the original debate was however about "on the fly" calculations.
