Did you see any mantas? I dove right near Ocotal last December for one day and saw 3 giant mantas - at least 12-18' across. The divemaster got a little annoyed when I took off after one, but who needs a 18 year-old german girl telling you where to dive? I got very close to the manta before it decided to leave. Without visible effort it went from about two knots to about twenty in about 1 second. It was absolutely amazing.
I also got all my dive gear stolen in Costa Rica when I turned my back for about 3 seconds, so keep your eyes WIDE open and make sure you have insurance.
