In Lake Michigan, High Island off of Charlevoix was used for a bombing range. Spots off of Sheboygan - Two Rivers WI and north of Muskegon MI had target drones & the ocasional Sidewinder, but my favorite is off of Sandy Hook NJ, where they'd been using it as a test range since the 1700's.
For the uninitiated, keep in mind that some of that powder can be set off by a fly fart after it dries out after having been soaked in saltwater.
