It's simple.. First off Ken said that we shouldn't read more into it and I disagree.. I believe that training and equipment are important elements is diving taken as a whole.. To suggest that we shouldn't look to that is a mistake in my view..

That being said, PADI claims to be the *leader* in *teaching the world how to dive*. To the extent they advance that self-appointed title then when the discussion turns to the slipping of quality training then they need to bear the disproportional amount of the blame.. They are leading the way to reduced training and the other agencies, save for GUE, are following under the misguided belief that they need to stay competitive..

No one should die from a day out on a scuba boat if they are trained properly and don't unnecessarily and unilaterally increase the risk factor.. By dropping the standards you increase the risk..
