Food irradiation can be done by - radioactive isotopes of cobalt or caesium, electron accelorators or X-rays. They are all comparatively effective.
X-rays are emitted by pulsed laser flash lamps. There is nothing nuclear about that. The only thing contributory that may be nuclear is an energy generation plant.
Irradiated food does not HAVE to be processed by nuclear means.
Maybe Greenpeace is just another misguided campaign that satisfies the simple mind at the same time they have a hand in your wallet or purse.
