Sounds a bit like clam chowder. I have trouble with red clam chowder, tho the standard conch chowder is red.
I do the conch chowder a little like a gumbo, but without the okra & roux.
BTW, if you ever wanna upset a New Englander, tell them clam chowder has to have tomatos in it.
