I agree that it is very difficult to extract and compensation from Mexico. They seem to be very good at extracting dollars from us but you will probably never see a nickle from them. It would be a national insult for a judge in Mexico to give an anglo one red cent. I have direct experience with that issue.
From my prospective, you are extremely fortunate you did not embolise. You would most certainly not be with us if you had. This sort of scenario is exactly what divers travelling internationally should be aware of. You are completely on your own in any foreign country.
