I go out on the Spectre, based in Ventura Harbor, to Anacapa often. Generaly on Fridays. Most of the time, they anchor in 30-40ft, near shore. They normaly have few spear fisherman, mostly students and ppl with camera. The skipper, Ted, is very concious of who he has on board. Quite often divers will bring non-divers along to go swimming/snorkling. You might check them out.
