It's not so much the "speed" of diving being
discussed here, but more so the effects of
drag due to configuration and trim and what
the typoical sport diver must overcome to get
that efficiency back.

The speed number is just a way to make the
overall numbers more pronounced. If you
wish to view this as a percentage data point,
a BP/wing diver is approx. 18% smoother (or
more drag efficient if you will) compared to a
diver in a SP plastic backpack. Read Tom's
numbers and do your own math if you wish.

Again, it's not about speed diving, it's about
how 'slippery' you are in the water.

Where's Mark Londsdale when you need him? He can
speak volumes on this issue.
