Del Monte Beach comprises the main sandy beach from the commercial wharf at Monterey all the way along the coast northward to Santa Cruz for 50 miles. it has tons upon tons of halibut, and it has virtually no scenery, only sand, so the recreational divers avoid it and it is where the spearfishers go to get halibut.

it is a perfect example of a site great for spearfishing but not offensive to the nonspearfishing diving public because virtually no one else but spearfishers go there.

halibut is probably the best tasting fish taken out of the Pacific Ocean, in my opinion. it is meaty and rich and very large grained, like salmon, only pure white and very delicious with butter and lemon.

now, where do those lobsters hide again? i heard the come out of their holes at night, so nightdiving is the way to fetch them!
