Regardless of if DIR is proven or not, I think you will see as time progresses that DIR divers will have less accidents. This will not necessarily prove DIR either. What it absolutely will mean though is that divers who put forth the extra effort to dive better, be more knowledgeable and practice safety or don't dive, will have less accidents; and maybe that will prove DIR.
