excuse me for butting in, but my understanding
was that the straps were originally crossed
way back when during the early years of using
backpack style b.c.'s and that this causes
the shoulder straps to fray less at the slots
(since the slots are cut in a diagonal way,
one would want the straps to follow through
in the same 'natural' direction and not get
'tweaked').
does it really matter either way? if someone
chooses to cross straps or not, what's the harm
either way...?...
