A direct comparison is not apples to apples. This
is how it seems to me.
The *Experience Scuba* program of Padi is to Padi
OW as a Padi certified OW is to GUE Fundamentals
class.
Otherwise stated, GUE needed to start somewhere. The
best place was to try to correct the mistakes in
training that had already taken place, before they
(skills of the diver) got any worse. Hence, the
Fundamentals course. My understanding is that GUE is
planning on establishing a OW course for new divers.
It goes without saying that after that course, the
newly certified OW diver would not need to take the
Fundamentals class. They would already have the
requisite skills ingrained.
