Jason, the big difference between NAUI and PADI is that PADI doesn't have hourly requirments for their classes.
There are many good PADI instructors out there, they care about there students well being and training. But, because of Padi's lack of standards there are many instructors teaching programs that a person can be certified is in as little as 80 mins. This and PADI's kiddy programs are the reason for all the bashing.
