Folks:
DFG meetings are over. The only public meeting in the works at this time is the formal presentation to the DFG Commission of the proposed closures at the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, which will be tomorrow in Santa Barbara.
DFG is still accepting written input on the proposed closures for the rest of California.
The Greater Los Angeles Council of Divers is planning on holding a public forum on Marine Protected Areas and the closures that will be affecting the Southern California area. The meeting will be held at Cabrillo Aquarium Auditorium on Saturday, September 22nd, immediately following the Chocolate Lobster Dive.
The decision to hold this forum came up at the general meeting held by the Greater Los Angeles Council of Divers on Monday, August 20. The meeting is being arranged by José and Lori Maramante, members of the GLACD Board of Directors.
Additional details are being ironed out and will be posted when available. But please plan on attending the meeting after the Chocolate Lobster Dive. Everyone is welcome, and we will have several speakers talking about the Marine Life Protection Act and MPA's, and how this will affect the diving community.
