While the scallops on the rigs are easy to get off, they are still heavy. A method I use sometimes is to have a small stick, like a paint stirrer (maybe broken in half and taped together) up the sleeve of my wetsuit. shove it in the open scallop and then cut the meat loose with an iron or knife. Pull out the meat and quickly field lean it. It makes the fish real happy. Carrying up the meat with no shell does not hurt the meat and makes for a much lighter load in a much smaller bag.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
