the plankton bloom is at its very thickest right now on the central coast. that makes the first 50 fsw or so of any dive very dark and cloudy here. if you can drop under it, then it clears up a lot.

i had a great club dive Saturday off one of the boats just off the carmel coast. vis was terrible until we got under the plankton to about 50 fsw.

the boats load over at the harbour masters office in Monterey at the fishermans wharf on Figuroa. boat traffic on them was light this past weekend, with most boats only half full.

this is not a good time to night dive, with the bloom this thick.
