I've used them a lot over the years. The best bait used to be abalone, but that's out of the question now. Pretty much anything that's been dead a while works, (remnants from cleaning fish, old bait, etc.) You can freeze any of the above and save it.
The same rule applies for hoop nets as you use for divers. If you don't know where the lobsters are, you aren't going to catch anything.
Read the regs, you are limited in the amount of nets you can use.
