You make some interesting and valid points. There are slight inaccuracies, however, like DIR forcing one manufacturer down throats of divers....nah..I go diving with old pair of sea tec 40 lb wings or a dive rite alum backplate with some pretty hard core DIR divers and many GUE instructors and **never** get any comments.

>TDI and ANDI don't get crazy with physical swimming and
endurance standards, both GUE and IANTD are stricter
here but I don't think its really necessary. Once
adrenaline kicks in even an "out of shape" diver
can swim long distances, or do rescues (if trained )<

This is a grossly inaccurate and misleading statement. And in my opinion a very danagerous one. A task loaded and stressed diver will consume a mucher higher (proportional and relative) supply of gas if 'out of shape'.

The swim test is not tough at all for gue something like 400 yards in 12-15 min or so.

THERE ARE GOOD AND BAD INSTRUCTORS AND EVEN GUE HAS ONE OR TWO THAT I WOULD NOT LET MY FRIENDS/LOVED ONES BE CERTIFIED BY.
