I was looking at the Mares you mentioned at Sport Chalet, but not one person advised me to buy that one. The ScubaPro was not that much more to pay considering that your life will depend on it. Also, the shops will cut you a deal, don't pay suggested retail.
I haven't configured it as DIR, yet, but will consider it after I've gotten so more dives under my belt.
