Adams Class Missle Destroyers . . displace about 3400 ton.
It was a modification on the Forrest Sherman class, but they replaced the LOUD five inch gun with a Tarter ( Tartar or Tarta ? ) missle launcher. Her class had two finch inch Mk 42 and a Mk 13 Missle Launcher, six 12.75 inch ASW Fish and Mk 112 ASROC Launcher.
27 hulls laid in the series, most are now scrap.
How is this dive related ? Well, there is an intact DDG, the Benjamin Stoddert ( DDG 22 ), and she lies at 07 56.4N & 140 38.7W. Who wants to go ?
