Some of the DIR leaders use the term "Lead, follow or get out of the way" catchy phrase from a CEO of Chrysler decades ago. Well, Lee is gone and Chrysler is not number one.

The only person I lead scuba diving is myself, I'll follow if the dive plan makes sense but have the courtesy to use the passing lane so I don't have to get out of your way. VBG

If you want to keep up with a non-DIR diver on a rec.dive you better get a computer otherwise you will be sitting out after the second or third dive and they will keep diving. Also, get a hood or you'll be cold if you dive in CA wet or dry. ;-)

I don't understand why you're worried about complying to someone else's standard? Do you really think it's safer to dive without a computer, without a bailout bottle or without a hood?
