This is the second death this year in CA where OOA buddy team broke down and ended in death. When the **it hits the fan and panic self preservation sets in, out the window goes behavioral conditioning.
Doubles gives you some redundancy so does a dedicated bailout bottle. The buddy system is false sense of security and twice this year that has been proven.
