In shallow above 60' i take a 6cu alu mounted below my BP and tank (rests on my butt when horiz) and a 13cu alu for deeper up to 110 mounted the same. It is as MHK says to be handed off AFTER calm or at least a grip is established NOT just shoved at a panicked and sinking buddy. It is primarily for ME in case of catastrophic failure of my entire system to just give me a reasonably safe return to surface in OW. I have used it and have lent it to others in dire need (after their SPARE despAIR gave them three breaths of hope then another OOA panic!)
