Absent a body and the equipment to confirm we're basically dealing with the reports from the surviving buddies description..

According to the reports of his story the OOA diver signalled OOA, but at some point during the ascent indicated that he was having a regulator failure. My understanding is that this happened approx. 10 minutes inot the dive, so unless he was a real hoover, making the assumption that it was an equipment failure isn't such a great leap of faith..

To the end, my understanding is that the buddy donated his *octo* and they began an open water ascent and got to 50'. From there something very obviously went wrong and they wound up back down at 140' where the buddy passes out and the last thing he remembers is hitting his inflator.. He was found face down, unconscious at the surface and treated at the chamber and walked out under his own power..

The OOA diver has yet to be found and absent an equipment inspection of tank analysis we'll be left speculating.. The Coast Gaurd and Life Gaurds have called off any search efforts and L.A. County Sheriffs are considering taking a look..
