If you have a balanced rig you would dump sufficent weight to enable the OOA diver to ascend without too much work, thus avoiding a potential C02 buildup..

The way we balance our rig is that we would have a 6 lb negatively bouyant SS BP and a light cannister.. Depending on the nature of our dive we would either have a proper balance between AL tanks and a weightsuit or we would have steel tanks and a drysuit, complete with an alternative argon bottle.. Accordingly, by balancing the rig should you need to dump the weight you won't dump so much that could cause an AGE... That is the difference between thinking the problem through before it occurs as opposed to putting all your eggs in the weightbelt basket and then dropping the entire belt when sh*t happens...

I believe strongly that most diver's dive overweighted to begin with and by putting all the weight on your belt, putting aside the sloppy trim issues that may result, you will now be faced with a situation that requires you to drop all the weight and you'll have an uncontrolled ascent and risk an AGE...

We prefer a holistic system that contemplates the potential problems and solves them in a fashion that won't solve one problem and then cause another one, certainly not a potentially fatal one...

We think the problem through...
