The U-505 was captured by Captain Daniel Gallery. Gallery went on to write a book about the capture and several others that were humorous fictional accounts about Navy life.

I remember going thru that sub in Chicago at about age 9. That's a long time ago. Every time I get back to Chicago the 505's on my list of things to visit.
