I have never had any trouble with the wooden lobster whitsle I inherited from my grandfather. I find the mouthpiece on the jackalope whitsle is too wide to use with my regulator mouthpiece in place. I admit that I have a small mouth and others might not experience the same trouble I do, but for me the added risk of having to remove the regulator unacceptable, and I don't think it could be considered DIR.

As I said divers with bigger mouths than mine probably don't have a problem with it.
