The simple fact is you are devoid of knowledge in this matter . One does not "ditch the gear" what is needed is the ability to "ditch a small amount of weight quickly so the diver becomes SLIGHTLY positive IF needed.
Your Zeagle takes far longer to remove than a BackPlate and the dump of weights in that Zeagle is total with NO recovery possible while in the water.
Backplate has a larger support surface than your Zeagle (68% more!) and therefore is FAR more stable and comfortable.
