I am "gambling with the smaller bottle, 13cu, but I feel in a recreational buddy and OW situation in shallow (usually less that 60ft) it is a better margin than one of those SRAREdespAIR's. I weigh my safety in the surf with a 40cu on my hip with the length of time spent under the surface AFTER a catastrophic failure. That is not something I will stay under and fool with, My egress/ascent will be in a rapid fashion and I will be seeking surface air at that point. I honestly feel (and have done it) that I can make a calm and safe ascent from 60 ft with a 6cuft bottle at my side. Yes "mo'is betta" but i have to balance walking down the steps with stage bottles (Knee injury, broken neck, back, arms, legs, or even a boo boo on my nose!) with the speed of ascent. tell me if I am totally off base.. really, I value the education.
