Due the to the limitation of the software/drive computer the
interface only allows you to see your depth and time plus some
other sundry items. If they would put in some 3 coordinate
accelerometers then one would be able to check out
orientation and trim. Of course the sampling rate would need
to be sped up since 1 sample every 30 seconds is a bit slow.
Generally during flight test the low rate is 10sps and high
accuracy will get up to and beyong 100 sps. Obviously the
flash memory chips will need upgrading, and your battery
will probably need to be replaced after each dive. No need
to worry about cooling as long the instrument is used in non-
topical waters. Add in a ring laser gyro and we could
be set with a highly accurate guidance system.
One day we will get there, right after that one company gets
its HUD perfected.
