For the hunter/gatherers out there - a short trip report. I took the Spectre out to Anacapa today. The swells were pretty rough on the way out and only got worse on the way back. We ended up on the South side of the island, where the sea was considerably calmer.(we seemed to be unaffected by any Southern swell generated by the hurricane in Cabo - go figure) However, there was still a good bit of current and vis was rather low due to some plankton bloom and a lot of particulate matter stirred up by the surge. The good news is we saw a fair number of bugs. The bad news is we saw lots of lobster pots out there just waiting to be baited. Y'all better hurry!
