I had a couple bug tails on my little portable gas grill the other day when the propane tank ran out. During the tank swap, the phone rang & 15 minutes later, I returned to discover the tails had "coasted" all the way to near perfection, remaining much more tender than if I'd grilled them all the way for a shorter amount of time. Tried it again a couple days later, this time turning the grill off shortly after getting them sizzling and let them soak up the heat for 10 minutes or so. Had the same results, nice tender tails.
I make a little "boat" out of tin foil to cradle them in, lay the tail split down the back, open side up. A smattering of butter w/a dash of garlic & lime juice over the top.
