A reduction in the legal take limit is pretty much a forgone conclusion. The debate now seems to be focused on 2/30 or 3/30. Arguements for the 3/30 option really seem to be coming down to the effects of the limits on the tourist business. An arguement for the higher per trip limit based on your willingness to travel up here on an ab diving trip and the impact of your travel on the local economy would probably be most effective.

That said, DFG seems to be getting to the point where economic arguements carry less and less weight. They want to close the sportsfishing season this Friday due to claimed overfishing of rockfish this season. Businesses in Bodega are very worried. Still, they are focusing on the economic arguement. "Sustainability" in resource management does include effects of management policies on local economies and communities.
