I took my newly certified neighbor diving this morning off Point Vicente(Palos Verdes). He asked me why I didn't bring my camera as I usually do. I told him that I wanted to give him my full attention. (Actually, it's lobster season and the camera just gets in the way). I also told him that whenever I dive without a camera, I always see something kewl! As I reached the bottom, a six foot Thresher shark cruised slowly by, less than ten feet away. I turned to get my buddy's attention, but he was so busy adjusting his new gear that he wouldn't look up. By the time he did, the shark was gone. It was the first large shark I've seen underwater in more than ten years. I'm still psyched! BTW, I got skunked again as far as the bugs go, but it was still a great dive.
