Thanks for the tips, JRM. I added the duct tape to my new fiberglass spear as you suggested (I put on 5 bands about 2 inches apart), and I'm going to put some measuring marks on it too (but I think I'll use a Sharpie instead of polish).
Now, if the Spectre goes out this week I'll be set.
I made a note of November 10th and I'll check to see if that fits my schedule. I'd love to get out with some good divers.
