This morning I came across a link to a Wetwear (www.wetwear.com), a wetsuit manufacturer in Florida.

They have some interesting information about compression characteristics of different neoprenes (specifically Rubatex vs. blended neoprene). I don't think there's anything on the site that addresses specifically what you're looking for you might find it helpful.
They certainly seem to know about different types of rubber and might be able to give you a rule of thumb guide for estimating buoyancy if you ask.
