I am pretty sure that about 25 years ago that is where I made my
first night dive too. I saw many things that night, but a but was one
of them. 40' who knows? Try a little south in Laguna Beach. Lots of good
coves down there. As for depth, go deep first, if you don't see them
go shallow. Don't too much time in one spot. They are there or they are
not. Cover as much distance as you can. When you find one, look around
usually ther are more.
