but I knew somehow someone was going to try to pin this on DIR. I do not believe that my gear configuration contributed in any way to this incident. If the bungee on my arm was too tight, that was an honest, correctable mistake on my part, not an inherent flaw in the DIR system. In fact, there is a possibility that had I followed DIR protocol more closely, namely kept my END at 100' or below, I could have avoided a problem. Of course, nothing is certain, but it might have improved the odds.
