Ed,

Hard to say whether your exact experiences could be DCS, but to answer your question, yes, you can get "micro-bent." There is no hard and fast cutoff on the low end. A lot of divers, in fact, are believed to have minor, or "sub-clinical," DCS experiences but never seek treatment.

This is what makes relatively mild experiences challenging to deal with. Like Marta asked herself, is my hand just numb from the cold. Or -- ? Personally I get a lot of odd nerve sensations in my extremities, possibly due to a neck injury, and on a couple of occasions have had odd pains after diving that DAN and the doctors couldn't say for sure whether they might be DCS. Dive doctors usually will take a conservative approach and want to treat with recompression. Not too traumatic if you survive the boredom and have insurance.
