Yes,
that seems to be the issue, pumping air into a nitrox tank adds two risk factors.
1) oil into the tank, so future partial pressure blends risk spontanious combustions by dumping Pure O2 into the now dirty tank.
2) high O2 gas back filling into the dirty standard pump.

now is the risk significant? I don't know.
