Much is being said about the 60 fsw limit. Look at the OW card in most divers' wallets and I'll bet it does not say 60 fsw anywhere on it. The cards that do have this are the "Jr." cards which have a limit (two of my kids have those).
The 60 foot thing is a recommendation until training and experience make it reasonable to do so. So to say that 60 is a limit is not realistic. I think it is a good "recommendation" as some newbies are pretty scary in the water and they make the recommendations based on the lowest common denomenator. But no matter how I look at it, it is a recommendation for a self imposed limit.
