The regulations for the emergency closure are as follows:
Except for those rockfish listed on page 6, Section 1.90 in the 2001 Sport Fishing Regulations
booklet, rockfish and lingcod may not be taken or possessed by a person onboard a vessel or
by spear fishing in state or federal waters.
Ocean whitefish may not be taken in waters deeper than 20 fathoms (120 feet), south of Point
Conception in Santa Barbara County.
California sheephead may be taken in waters 20 fathoms (120 feet) or deeper, with the
exception of the cowcod closure area.
Lingcod may not be taken or possessed by a person onboard a vessel or by spear fishing in
state or federal waters during the closure.
Sculpin and Rockfish species that can be taken in nearshore waters of 20 fathoms or less:
1.Black rockfish (Sebastes melanops)
2.Black-and-yellow rockfish (Sebastes chrysomelas)
3.Blue rockfish (Sebastes mystinus)
4.Brown rockfish (Sebastes auriculatus)
5.Calico rockfish (Sebastes dallii)
6.California scorpionfish (sculpin) (Scorpaena guttata)
7.China rockfish (Sebastes nebulosus)
8.Copper rockfish (Sebastes caurinus)
9.Gopher rockfish (Sebastes carnatus)
10.Grass rockfish (Sebastes rastrelliger)
11.Kelp rockfish (Sebastes atrovirens)
12.Olive rockfish (Sebastes serranoides)
13.Quillback rockfish (Sebastes maliger)
14.Treefish (Sebastes serriceps)
