Tim, Having read your story I can say I have roughly the same philosophies about diving solo as you and have run into some problems myself. As long as I win the arguement I look at it like the DM is just taking his job seriously and trying hard. As we grew in diving I wonder if the sport diving schools knew the commercial schools were handing out SCUBA certifications as an incidental part of their training and teaching their divers to dive solo. Imagine that... Requiring a diver to be self sufficient and handle their own emergencies???? Nowadays it takes a team :-)
I'm happy to say I never had any probs on your boat even on the deep trips and that you do your job better than most... Keep it up...Your a big part of LA diving.
