Go to your local DUI retailer and get a look see at the difference between what you have now and a Rock Boot setup. I only have used Rock Boots with a dry suit and they are flexible enough, not overly bulky or heavy with a sturdy sole for climbing boat ladders or hiking down a beach. I believe they will limit air shift into the booty but you will have to weigh the cost to benefit factor yourself.
